Brooke's Final Thoughts

It’s almost over.

In the beginning, I was most excited about seeing the transformation of all the Rockers and watching them develop. Seeing how television, worldwide exposure, stress and competition affect everyone is such a huge factor. I think if we watched the performances from the first show compared to this week, it would be night and day. So it’s been a really interesting process to watch.

I thought last week’s show was so great with the originals— I was just blown away. I think Storm, for one, has a huge hit, she’ll go on to great things. And she was so gracious and had so much positive energy. I was wondering what it would be like without the Mama of the house. She really seemed to be the one who kept everything together. And she was always rooting for everyone and dancing for everyone. She’s always full of life. I’m going to miss her.

And now Dilana who’s the one woman standing! Dilana’s been going through some tough weeks but she’s so talented, she’ll be fine. I don’t know what to expect for the final week. I’ve always been a fan of Lukas, I think he’s a star. Toby has pulled it together. Magni— I’ve loved Magni from the beginning. Really, I don’t think Supernova can go wrong with any one of them. Right now it boils down to not only vocal ability but also star quality. That’s obviously up to Supernova and only they know the answer to that.

But no matter who wins, this show has been a great opportunity for everyone. The exposure they’ve had worldwide is incredible and the fact that they’ve all gotten the opportunity to showcase their originals to millions of people is worth it— win or lose. They’ve all grown, learned a lot about themselves and are better performers. And since we just heard that the tour is not only going to be Supernova but The House Band with some of our favorite Rockers and Dave Navarro, it looks right now that the Rockers all for sure have a future. It’s a win win situation.

After the show, I’m going to take some time off. I’m going to grow and have my baby and survive the hormonal rollercoaster I’ve been on this week! I didn’t take any time off with my first two pregnancies so that’ll be a first for me. I’m just going to enjoy the rest of the summer. I’ll probably go to Mexico, get a little R&R, plan my wedding. I’ll also go back to my sweat suits, and my hair in a ponytail! I’ll go back to being a soccer mom next week!

I am going to miss doing the show. I think we all are. It went by really fast and at this point, we have a relationship with the Rockers. I knew from the beginning, much like last year, it's impossible not to get emotionally involved. And fortunately they’re all going to go on to do great things and we’ll hear their music. So it’s not like a goodbye. We’ll see them again.

The Drama Is High

A lot of drama happening...

In terms of Dilana— look, she made a mistake and she learned a lesson.  I really respect the fact that she owned up to it, apologized, acknowledged it and learned from it. I really feel for her.  I do think that learning how to do an interview in sort of a neutral way takes time and experience.  But she has so many fans and talent that musically she’s going to overcome this.

Last week were two great shows, really strong performances.  As always, Dilana was amazing. I loved Toby’s version of “Layla.” Ryan’s original song was a great opportunity for him. And though Patrice also did an original song, I think they made the right choice for elimination.

Magni killed the Jimi Hendrix song— that was hot. Toby was also great. He was kind of going through some of his own stuff for a while and now, like Ryan, Toby’s back in the game.

With Lukas—I can appreciate that him wanting to jam with the band but he’s got three minutes up there and he needs to play more to Supernova. But they love him. He just needs to keep doing what he’s doing.

For the most part everybody has kicked it up a notch and I’m sure the emotions are running deep and the stress is high. I think the drama happening at the Mansion is totally normal and to be expected. But I also think they need to stick together and not compete against each other.

As for myself, I’m feeling really good.  My baby decided to show this week, there’s no more hiding!  Literally, in the last ten days. It’s great. I also just found out I’m having a girl. She’s probably going to come out a little Rocker from all this music she’s hearing! No names yet. We’re trying to find a name. We’re trying to find a really unique, really beautiful name so if anyone has any ideas, write in!

The Energy Is Intense

At this stage last year, people were taking a lot of chances but only making choices that they knew they’d be able to conquer. So the Rockers have to give their best performance every single show because they’re one performance away from leaving. It’s less about a competition amongst each other and more about a competition with themselves. They need to challenge themselves; they need to give everything they’ve got every show and yet still give Supernova some variety.

It’s a week-to-week thing; anybody could blow you away at this stage.

The stripped down show was great, it really showcased the Rocker’s voices. Ryan is continually surprising everyone. He’s had such a transformation since his first month. Dilana, as expected, continues to blow everyone away. Lukas took Jason’s advice and as much as he’s been getting a little criticism, he’s been showing more singing now than ever. Fortunately Storm has enough fans to carry her through and I thought she sang “I Will Survive” great. She did as well as she could have possibly done with that song. Truly.  Also, Magni’s elimination show performance of “Creep” was my favorite performance of his so far. It was powerful and emotional—Dilana was crying. He’s amazing.

As for Zayra, it was her time and she’ll be missed. She was so fun to watch. She’s off the wall and unique and it works for her. She wasn’t right for Supernova, but I think the show will open doors for her. And she totally handled her exit gracefully. Everyone’s handled their exits so well which is smart. It’s a great opportunity and great exposure and it’s nice to bow out gracefully, that’s for sure.

Supernova played—that was amazing. Their fan base is being developed as we go through this process so first impressions of their new sound are really important. The pressure’s on not only for the Rockers but for Supernova as well. Because the world is watching them too. So the energy is really intense.

We still don’t know who the winner is. And that is amazing. Sometimes there’s a star who really stands out from the get go and I honestly do not know who’s got it yet.

On a personal note, I got engaged. We had a white party, and I thought it was a party just for the sake of having a party but it turned out to be an engagement party! It was very sweet.

Week Six and a Preview of Week Seven

There were some surprises this week. I was surprised to see Ryan in the bottom three. It was interesting because Tommy didn’t quite know what to say about Ryan’s performance but Dave loved it. He’s making some bold choices, which is good, and it was a really memorable performance.
The double elimination was also a total surprise. It just goes to show that nobody is safe. You know, they’ve all got to bring it big time and show they deserve to be there. Jill and Josh have amazing voices but maybe not for Supernova.
I was so happy to hear Lukas really sing. I think everybody had been waiting for that performance and he was just captivating doing the ballad. Toby too. “Burning Down the House” was my favorite performance of Toby’s. I did agree with Dave that he didn’t need a prop but then, it still worked. He was great.
For the show today, it’ll be interesting to see what happens. It will be a unique blend of rock and roll, all stripped down with a full string section. At this point, it’s an opportunity for people to showcase their voices and be more intimate. If a Rocker hasn’t done a ballad, it’s great for them. If they have, it might be a bit tougher. So it’ll definitely be interesting. And beautiful.
And Zayra is doing an original song tonight, in Spanish and it’s not Rock and Roll. Very, very ballsy.
It’s so tough now. Everybody is super talented. And since it’s not just about musical talent, it’s not just about vocal ability and you never know what people are responding to until we get our results, there’s no telling.
But Supernova is making the final decision, which again, shows there really is no telling what could happen.

Week Five

I heard from some people that week five was the best show we had yet. I totally agree. I think we're starting to get back into the similar groove  of last year where there are some emotional moments and we're really starting to see people's personalities.

It was just a powerful week. When Magni watched his home video--that brought everyone to tears. Ryan had that performance that we were waiting for. I thought his choice was great and even though they were asking for more rock it was really powerful. Ryan's doing something unique this week as well and I think he's  going to be amazing.

I'm a fan of Lukas and though he did mess up, I have more respect for him. The way he handled it was incredible. He thought he deserved to be in the bottom three. He was humble and I think people really appreciated that. And he's been doing such a great job that it didn't really affect the voting. I don't think he lost any face in the eyes of Supernova either.

I was really surprised to see Dana go, she got each better week, she had a great attitude and she had an amazing voice. She was really classy, very mature about being eliminated. I think she has an amazing way about her. She left on such a graceful note.

You'll see that, as a show like this goes on people will surprise you, people will develop, and as their comfort levels gets greater, it's hard to tell what's going to happen.

Fear and a lack of confidence can affect performances but the Rockers are starting to take chances. It's just going to get better.
